NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF JUSTICE (NIJ) BALLISTIC RATINGS:

Level I

.22 long rifle high velocity lead

 .38 special round nose lead

Level II-A*

.357 Mag. jacketed soft point at 1,250 ft./second

 9mm full metal jacket at 1,090 ft./second

Level II

.357 Mag. jacketed soft point at 1,400 ft./second

9mm full metal jacket at 1,175 ft. second

Level IIIA

.44 Mag. semi-jacketed hollow point at 1,400 ft./second

                 9mm full metal jacket at 1,400 ft./second

Level III**

7.62mm (.308 Winchester) full metal jacket

It is important to note that Level II and III-A all stop the overwhelming majority of pistol projectiles you are ever likely to encounter (plus 12 gauge, OO buckshot), and also to know that NO armor is ever 100% ‘bulletproof’ under ALL conceivable circumstances.

*We do not offer Level II-A as it provides slightly less protection than a Level II without any significant cost savings.

**We do not offer Level III due to the thickness and weight of the ballistic material.  The door would end up weighing almost 900 pounds if made to a Level III.
